Akon really got locked up, but at least they let him out.

According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday, November 12, the Konvict Kulture founder was booked into the DeKalb County jail in Georgia last week. The Chamblee Police Department arrested Akon last Thursday morning over a bench warrant that was discovered during their run-in with the multi-platinum artist. Back in September, police approached a Tesla Cybertruck that was stuck in the middle of the road. Akon was the driver and told police that his car's battery had died. They called a tow truck for him, but discovered his license was suspended.

The "Locked Up" rapper's license was suspended after he failed to appear in court in January 2023. During their interaction with him in September, the responding officer wrote down that "an illegal vape in the center console was seized during the inventory and submitted for destruction." Nonetheless, they gave Akon a citation for driving while his license was suspended and let him go.

Akon was booked into jail but was released six hours later. As of this report, Akon has not commented on the situation. However, it's ironic that he got locked up after he reunited with Colby O'Donis for their first collaboration in years. On the song called "Locked Up With You," Akon samples his 2004 breakthrough single on the hook. Their new track is set to appear on O'Donis' upcoming album.

The music video for "Locked Up With You" dropped last week. If you haven't seen it by now, watch Colby O'Donis and Akon's new music below.
